I did not try to delete registry but tried something different. I had similar symptoms as original article. I was trying to add the printer (Listed in AD installed on print server) on server Windows Server 2012R2 but got the error 0x000000b6. I was able to add the printer on any other server in domain just not to this one. Also I was able to add all other printers on the "server with issue". Normally I go and pick a printer which is listed in AD as it is installed on some printer server and this was problem. When adding this way the server with issue did not redownload driver package. Server was trying to install same package which was corrupted. What I did was that I checked port IP (from print serve) and tried to install the printer directly on the "server with issue" where I got window that installation package already exist (I used exactly same driver which I found on print server) but was asking if I want to replace it.IMPORTANT here is to click replace instead of "keep curren version" which is recommended option. Then it worked but I wanted to add the printer from AD so I deleted what I just installed and then tried to add the printer as usually and this time got no error. Check my guide in attachment.
